Dr. Govand Azeez is is a Lecturer in the Department of Modern History, Politics and International Relations at Macquarie University, Sydney. He specialises in political theory and philosophy (including epistemology and theories of subjectivity), political economy (focusing on Marxist/Neo-Marxist conceptualisations of class), and the politics and strategies of social transformation (including social movement and revolutions). In 2016, he was a Visiting Fellow in the Department of History at Harvard University, Cambridge. In 2014, he was a visiting fellow in the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies (MESAS) at Columbia University, New York. He has published extensively in journals like Research and Social Epistemology: A Journal of Knowledge, Culture and Policy, Middle East Critique, the Journal of Intercultural Studies, Journal of Iberian and Latin American, Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies, Critique and Continuum, Cultural Studies, amongst others.
